Gradall forklift series#
Once their XL Series hydraulics became available, Gradall was basically thrust into the highly competitive market of machines meant to deal with pavement removal, excavation, demolition and other industrial tasks. This makes the operator's overall job easier and also conserves fuel simultaneously. Conventional excavators utilize an operator to be able to pick a working-mode where the Gradall system can automatically adjust the hydraulic power meant for the work at hand. The XL Series hydraulics system was even developed together with a load-sensing capability. These models were manufactured with a piston pump, high-pressure hydraulics system that showed immense improvements in boom and bucket breakout forces. The new XL Series Gradall excavators proved a remarkable increase in their lifting and digging ability. These traditional systems successfully handled grading and finishing work but had a hard time competing for high productivity work. The XL Series put an end to the original Gradall equipment power drawn from low pressure hydraulics and gear pumps. This new system of top-of-the-line hydraulics allowed the Gradall excavator to provide comparable power and high productivity to the more traditional excavators. Gradall introduced in the year 1992, with the introduction of the new XL Series hydraulics, the most innovative adjustment in their equipment ever since their invention. A cylinder was placed at the rear of the boom, powering a long push rod to enable the machine to be equipped with either a blade or a bucket attachment. Moreover, they added a tilt cylinder that let the boom turn 45 degrees in either direction. Soon enhancing the very first design, the brothers made a triangular boom to add more strength. This allowed the fixed blade at the far end of the beams to push or pull the dirt. There was a telescopic cylinder that was used to move the beams back and forth. The initial excavator prototype consisted of a device with two industrial beams on a rotating platform fixed to a second-hand truck.
Gradall forklift manual#
The Ferwerda brothers chose to build a machine that would save their company by making the slope grading task more efficient, less manual and easier. As partners in their Cleveland, Ohio construction company referred to as Ferwerda-Werba-Ferwerda they lacked the available laborers so as to carry out the delicate work of finishing and grading on their highway projects.

The brothers faced the problems of a depleted labor force due to the war. Gradall Forklift Parts - All through the time when World War II created a scarcity of laborers, the famous Gradall excavator was founded in the 1940s as the brainchild of two brothers Koop and Ray Ferwerda.
